What competency is required to enter and work in substations for network rail and national rid?

I would imagine that organisations such as these have their own requirements. Have tried approaching them for advice? Also it would depend on what works you would be undertaking whilst you were in there.

When I worked in substations for NGC you had to have at least Person and BESC (Basic Electrical Safety Competence). This was c couple of years ago so not sure if it's changed. The Person course was done at Eakring and the BESC done by a training provider. The name escapes me though.

Competency requirements vary for the role undertaken. For any HV asset there is a basic awareness level where folks need to have a basic understanding of the risks in these locations - typically for visitors, client engineers etc.
When persons are going to work on the assets then there are additional levels of competence specified by the operators, typically authorised persons, senior authorised persons, control person safety or similar titles.
Competency normally has to be "proved" to the organisation in control of the workplace before access is granted.
