Hi can anyone tell me if the fire doors in a school built in 1985 require smoke seals or are the ok without as long as you justify in the fire risk assessment?

Hi Paul I must admit to wondering if a fire door (which was presumably put in for a purpose) is fit for that purpose without the smoke seals/strips? I would be dubious about leaving them without and as it was built in 1985 I am assuming that we're not talking heavy hardwood doors either, which would at least resist heat far more effectively than most others. Do you have a friendly fire safety officer that you can ring for a chat? Ours is helpful and we have a good relationship based upon trust and good sense!
