Hi all,
If a shower is used in frequently ie not from one month to the next is it prudent to periodically flush this through? if so, how often and how long should it be flushed for.
Also if taking water temp checks throughout an office building, should you test all outlets or only certain ones.
Cheers in advance.

Not an expert, but if you check L8 it will give you the specifics. Yes, to periodically flush through. From memory, water temp checks - from nearest and furthest outlets (i.e. taps) to the tank/boiler. The requirement is slightly different depending on whether you are testing hot or cold water supply. Check L8, its really helpful. Perhaps an expert out there can advise?

Yup. If you hadn't yet found it in HSG274 Part 2 then Table 2.1 gives you the typical frequencies to do these things. The caveat is that a risk assessment might determine differently...but....well...
Generally:
- Infrequently used outlets should be flushed weekly
- Need to identify your sentinel tap outlets for monitoring then do it monthly - depends on what type of water system you have as to where these are though - Appendix 2.4 gives you some examples for a hot water system.
- There is a point that remains about checking ALL H&C outlets rotationally (used to be over 12 months but no longer) just to demonstrate that all are at suitable temps. But certainly NOT all outlets every month!
- Don't forget about storage tank checks and calorifier checks (if you have them).
