Is an accident resulting in a specified major injury (under RIDDOR 2013) reportable if it happened to an employee of a UK company whilst working abroad (Eastern Europe)?

Unless the injury occured on a british registered ship, anywhere in the world. In which case reportable to the MAIB.

So, if an employee has an accident whilst working abroad, what recourse to litigation do they have if they believe the accident is a result of negligence by the employer?
Would they need to sue in the country where the accident took place or can they sue in the British courts?

In context of civil law/negligence by employer, , they will be able to sue via UK/GB courts, but one has to also consider the contracts of employment for specifics. There is excellent free IOSH guidance, "Safety without borders-Keeping your staff healthy and safe abroad" ( please copy & paste the complete URL) http://www.iosh.co.uk/~/...outBordersPOL111112.ashx
