Morning everyone. Trying to find out the frequency that alarms in passenger carrying lifts are tested. Am aware it would be in British Standards but I'm tight and refuse to pay the sort of money being asked. I know it would be 6 monthly when the obligatory checks are carried out and it would be good practice to be weekly when the general fire alarm tests are carried out. Open to guidance thanks!

In student accommodation we used to test daily along with other safety checks. This might appear to be OTT but in think in common with many universities we did suffer some minor vandalism. Passenger lift alarms in other buildings were tested weekly. I might add that all lift alarms went to our own control room.

Modern lift Alarm systems run off an electrical supply and also have a emergency battery backup pack in case of power cuts. In all the years I was a lift engineer it never was a cause for concern, I have never seen or heard of the alarm system being tested on a regular basis unless the lift was being serviced, some lifts are fitted with a auto dial alarm system that rings directly to a call center for assistance, imagine the cost involved if you constantly dialed them for no reason.
