We are changing our day shift to night shift for our Hgv drivers. We have discussed the snap tag for emergency situation and I would do a health questionnaire. What else do I need to cover from a hs perspective as this is a first for nights. Thanks

You will have already completed a risk assessment for the activity...but main concern for me was health checks (what a surprise)...they are required and it should be from a OH provider...you may also want to look at sleep apnoea risks..there is a screening tool available... Other items to add to your risk assessment are below...just skip to the conclusions first... http://oem.bmj.com/content/58/1/68.full

has there been consultation and communication or are U just changing things - in the past I have always asked staff what their thoughts/preferences were noting that shifts and nights are not natural patterns for humans and have been shown to be damaging and many have not wanted nights so we put people on nights who wanted nights or who were not bothered and left those who wanted days on days which was a great success; additionally we ensured that shift workers were well served via admin support e.g. wages as the vast majority are not -- just some thoughts
