The personality type of the discerning OHS Professional?

Having recently completed a Myers Brigg type assessment, and subsequently become fascinated by what this can tell you about how you are "hard wired" I thought it would be both fun and informative to find out the various personality types we have on this forum, and as such as a straw poll for OHS professionals!
Info from wiki for those who haven’t come across MBTI http://en.wikipedia.org/...rs-Briggs_Type_Indicator
I came out as an ENTJ with a strong bias to "E", "T" and "J" but a weaker bias to "N" (that’s the detail orientation coming through).
It wouldn't surprise me if there were more "F"'s than "J"s due the very nature of OHS.
So, if you've completed MBTI - what's your type?!

This test is just a pile of of rubbish built on a poor bit (donkeys years ago) of research, that has now been discredited.
Sold by snake oil salesmen to gullible HR folks who can't interveiw properly.

I found it incredibly accurate, and moreover having just completed an Emotional Intelligence 360 feedback (had about 18 responders) there is a clear theme that links the 2 (i.e. blind spots highlighted via MBTI and how people rated me in the 360 feedback).
Both the blind spots and 360 feedback were in areas that I would not have suggested in the first place!
My employer uses it a lot, and too good effect from what I can tell (creating diverse teams). Horses for courses eh'

It is a simplistic process that attempts to pigeon hole people into limited go/no go criteria. They are simple to learn and use to present the face you choose and thus don't they just become either a self fulfilling prophecy or worthless?
However, I know some do find these assessments helpful, usually on first contact with them or if they are exploring their own personality.
As to a typical OSH personality. Why would there be just one? Are there not many different types of OSH work and jobs that would require totally different traits or characteristics?
Just a simple yes/no question you know :-o

(very) Basic science says outcomes should be reproducable.
You might as well use Phrenology

ENFP - and that was my assessment by a practicising psychiatrist, don't ask.
Agree that some of the online pyschometric tests can be missused and misinterpreted but the Myers Briggs test itself is still a tool used by pychiatrists.

I completed mine as part of a MBTI workshop, faciliated by our inhouse "expert", so don't have access to test your theory out, but will bare in mind when I complete a follow up (all be it in a few years time).

In relation to your observation, 'I thought it would be both fun and informative to find out the various personality types we have on this forum, the MBTI has little validity in relation to work-related behaviour.
If you want to pursue your line of enquiry, it's advisable to concentrate on psychological measures with well-demonstrated levels of construct and predictive validity in relation to specified areas of work.
You can find information about people competent in this area on the website of the BPS Register of Occupational Testing and its associated federation of European psychological testing professionals.
While it's probably harmless to play around with unvalidated measures, the comments on 'accuracy' by those ignorant of the relevant issues, is about as informative as the opinions of blind nuns on the likely winners of the 2014 World Cup finals, or perhaps even less so in so far as the nuns are less likely to claim to know the slightest thing about the complex issues involved.

Correction: the source I referred to should read: British Psychological Society's Register of Competence in Test Use.
And, full disclosure, I'm registered as a 'Specialist in Test Use', at the higher end of the scale

I will never know what type I am as I couldn't be bothered reading all that information on the web link?
I had a job interview on Thursday and it went extremely well. There was technical testing in two parts followed by an interview by a two person panel.
It was only after arriving home that I thought about one of the answers I gave which was word perfect - the only problem is it was an answer to a different question that I wasn't asked :-)
OK go on tell me what type am I ?

A helpless drunk? ;)
I had the experience of being the other side of the desk and interviewing for a fire safety consultancy job. I will not give any details away, but I was gobsmacked at some of the answers - including one candidate whose research was so poor, he didn't have a clue about the prospective employer and the nature of their business - even though it is an household name known across the globe and he was sitting in their Head Office :)

ESTJ - The Overseer apparently, makes much more sense when you see what Simpsons Character you are, I am Chief Wiggum.
This has changed over the last 10 years, as I have gained more knowledge experience and inches around my waistline.
