Are there any statistics gurus out there who can explain how "Cumulative H-Values" are calculated in relation to Accident Stats and Lost Time Injuries? I can find a number of published values but I am unable to determine how the values were derived.

This is one of those times when I feared that after 35 years in H&S I was either having a senior moment or was finally losing my mind. I am thankful that i'm not the only one that has never heard of H-Values.

Never heard of H values in terms of H&S.

I'm guessing its maybe some sort mathematical/statistical value or expression - but I'm very rusty on much more than basic statistics.

I've always struggled with statistical analysis of incident figures. For most organisations the number of incidents/injuries are so low (statistically) as to make any meaningful analysis on trends or patterns impossible.

But like most of you, I expect, I produce lovely tables and pie charts for management and the Safety Committee which add nothing to safety in the workplace.

I presented the results in both qualitative and quantitative format.
I didn't feel any further need to extrapolate beyond what was important.
