Interested to know from those that may have trodden this path, I'm CMIOSH and up till now have always held HSSE roles.

As part of my development, with the aim of become a senior HSSE manager/leader in the organisation in the future, I need to complete a few "broadening roles" that will give me exposure to the operational side of the business, commercial P&L accountability, line management etc.

I worked really hard for CMIOSH and would like to find a way of maintaining chartership - is it possible if I'm in a non-HSSE role (though the work will be the oil terminal / fuel scheduling / forecourt arenas so HSSE will always be there, but I wouldn't necessarily be directly involved nor implementing it, depending on the type of role...).

Any suggestions?

You can continue your CPD by firstly acquiring new skills and claiming points in the new management skills section or the transferrable skills section. You can also continue to network by attending local branch meetings, or you could keep your H&S knowledge up to date by reading relevant articles, consultation documents etc. I am also sure that most management positions in any discipline will involve quite a bit of H&S management, particularly if you have direct reports. Just because you're no longer an H&S manager doesn't mean that you leave H&S behind

I think even your new role do-sent involve H&S it should be included in CPD..(Not so many OHS people have chance to go to other roles to polish their skills or develop their skills) However it is hard to imagine that even in your new role , H&S is not included in your day to day duties even small
