I have 15 years experience in venue and operations management (museums, cinemas and two years at the Olympics). After 18 months of under-employment (I work on a till in a shop) I have successively failed to get a job to match my experience. So, rather than die of boredom (trust me, it is possible) I have gained my NEBOSH General Cert and am looking to re-train. I have experience in H&S management - writing evacuation plans, crowd management plans, policies and procedures and risk assessments. I also have experience in training and auditing. I have never had a role directly as a H&S manager. I am happy to enter a H&S role at a junior level and work my way up. I am also PRINCE II qualified. My main interest lies in the arts heritage/leisure and sports sector. I really enjoy working with people and seeking workable solutions. I really enjoy both the compassionate and firmly pragmatic challenge of contingency planning. I've all kinds of interests and work hard. I'm prepared to do some voluntary work to get experience (I do already). So, dear readers, to prevent me from a slow death by brain melt and withering of the spirit, what do I do next? What additional qualifications should I get, what level of employment should I apply for and is there enough of a demand in leisure/sports and heritage to make a career practicable? Thanks in advance. All suggestions welcome!
