morning all .
looking to find a pocket sized card relating to COSHH .
Already do COSHH awarness training but it has being suggested that giving the staff pocket cards to act as a reminder /refresher would be useful .
any suggestions

Make them up yourself, suitable Word document/graphics and then laminate in plastic.
You make them bespoke to your needs then.

Clifden, Im in process of doing my Nebosh Oil and Gas and wondering if you could put me in right direction regarding getting a day with an onshore company to see first hand what I am studying, vessels loading and unloading within the docks and fuel storage containers etc, etc.

Not so easy to have a day, seeing what goes on.
Unless you intend to go to SullomVoe, much oil is piped directly to refineries - Teesside, Grangemouth.
You would need various induction courses before being allowed on to a refinery - which is most likely a different company.
I work in oil/gas engineering design. I'm not so sure that the NEBOSH Oil and Gas has much merit. Never seen it requested as a qualification for a job.

No problem, thanks anyway, not so much doing the course for a post within oil and gas industry, I actually deliver various training for oil and gas companies, just thought I would add this Nebosh Oil and gas qualification to my other Nebosh Health and safety and nebosh fire safety qualifications I have, no harm in having another qualification to add to the list.
Anyway thanks again.
Just thought a fellow Iosh member could help me out in some way.

I was thinking of implementing this into my work place; almost like a top trumps card set.
As much as I insist on the reading of the Coshh sheets/ data sheets before for each job, I'm still not convinced some people take them in. A much simpler pictorial card with a ranking system might deliver the message better in some cases.
It was just an idea, but I haven't seen anything on the market, besides, they will by nature be bespoke. So as it was suggested earlier, make them yourself....

You can buy them, we have them here but would like them to be more credit card size the ones we have although they are advertised as pocket sized they are if you were the old 'birmingham bags' with the big side pockets.

The feedback from HSE inspectors I have had in the past the expect employees using chemical reagents to be familiar with the reagents and what they can do. How to get that the information to employees is down to the employers. COSHH cards might work in some situations but they should provide useful information to the employees based on the jobs that they are doing, which is why the DIY route is probably more appropriate.

You could try:-
International Chemical Safety Cards
The cards are data sheets intended to provide essential safety and health information on chemicals in a clear and concise way. The primary aim of the cards is to promote the safe use of chemicals in the workplace. The main target users are workers and those responsible for occupational safety and health. The ICSC project is a common undertaking between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the ILO, with the cooperation of the European Commission.
http://www.ilo.org/safew...13134/lang--en/index.htm
To date, more than 1,700 cards are available in English. The cards are prepared by ICSC participating institutions and updated periodically to take into account the latest scientific developments. New cards are proposed by countries or stakeholder groups, while national institutions translate them into different languages.

The one Jay recommend is too much data and can not not be used as pocket card..
clifden, i think you need small card mentioning basic COSHH regulations in some sort check list..e.g
Is chemical considered as hazardous based on label?
Is correct PPE mentioned on package is available? maintained....etc
However, i do not see any point mentioning about NEBOSH oil and gas certificate in this post, nowadays a lot of people jumping on train and say Hi!!!
