My employer is looking to purchase a number of off road vehicles and I've been asked to obtain information on the use of ATVs, in particular the side by side type rather than quad bikes .

I've already located BS EN 15997:2011 All terrain vehicles (ATVs – Quads). Safety requirements and test methods and the HSE guide on Safe use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in agriculture and forestry and I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of any other current sources of information.

Kind regards

Rachael

I presume your employer is purchasing them for specific tasks? If it used in forestry or grounds maintenance then the relevant training boards will have standards for these vehicles. There have been fatalities involving Quad bikes and the HSE recommendations as a result of each case have been published hence the guidance issued.

I would suggest that you also get in contact with the suppliers of the quads and see what training and guidance they offer, or if they can recommend a good training provider with excellent off road training.

Rachael p,

Below is a link to FISA (Forestry Industry Safety Accord). They provide information and guidance for forestry working

http://ukfisa.com/assets...20terrain%20vehicles.pdf

There is also information regarding the use of Quads (FISA701)

I hope this helps.

Hi Rachel

We have used Sit in ATV's and Quad Bikes for a number of years in agricultural research. The training that we have had delivered by LANTRA instructors has always been good. In fact we have had a member of our staff trained upto LANTRA standards to deliver this type of training.

So I would take a look at the LANTRA website.
