Anybody got any info on asbestos in porta-cabins.
We have got a few old ones on site and I could do with a bit of guidance on whether they may contain asbestos or not.
Any information would be appreciated.

Steve,
You could start with ascertaining how old they are and where they were constructed.
As you are no doubt aware, various countries have differing control of asbestos legislation and some even have none at all.
As a guide, if my memory serves me, UK never fully implemented a total ban on importation of asbestos material until 1992 when they included chyrsotile (white) asbestos.
AIB may even have been as late as 1998
Hope this in some way helps

Please note that Porta-Cabin (I have no connection to the business other than I sometimes get phoned by their customers by mistake!) is a particular brand of mobile building. If the building is a Porta-Cabin they( the busenss based in York) should have information about it. If not then good luck trying to find the actual manufacturer.

The best thing to do would be to get someone (a surveyor) to take a sample of the structure and any textured coatings and roofing felt that may have been applied. Please also note that asbestos use/sale and second hand resale in the UK was not fully banned until 1999.
