Short duration works - method statement/risk assessment
Rank: Super forum user

Hello I have just swopped jobs and my new employer does short duration works that can be 1 day or 1 hours work - on commercial property I would normally do method statement and risk assessment for works but this seems a lot for short duration works and can be anywhere in the country - need to establish quick and sufficient plans
What do other do ? Does anybody use a task briefing sheet? Looking to make the job easier and enable compliance for operatives and ourselves as the employer Advice from you all would be appreciated many thanks

Dependant on what the level of risk involved. This is the key.
I have seen used very successfully dynamic assessments supported by MS's

Hi,
Can't remember where I got this from, but I have heard of a company who in a very similar situation settled upon a whiteboard on the inside of a van door with headings permanently attached as a guide to RA and MS. Chaps on the ground get to site, assess the work, put the data on the white board and if necessary take a photo which then date / time stamps it.. H&S can then dip check pictures as required and there is a record of the RAMS if further info is required later. Might work for you,
Jim

to elaborate further It is mainly working at heights cleaning gutters and or roof areas as part of a maintenance programme The client would want a copy once work completed, trying to keep it compliant yet not to time consuming for operator
Small task type sheet I am thinking of ?

Hi Alan,
If the work they do is relatively straight forward and has similar hazards ie working at height, use of hand/electrical tools etc. Why not consider generic assessments that can be adapted as required to slightly different work environments if needs be?
Just a thought. DHM

Alan
PM me with your email and I will forward you on exactly what you are looking for on 1 page, used by "off site" engineers for any duration works on client sites.
Regards
Jonty
