Hi Sorry to hear about your pending redundancy, sounds like you have got a taste for entering the world of H&S. Experience and qualifications are the way forward, but there lies the problem. If you only have H&S qualifications employers want someone with experience and vice versa. To gain experience some firms will allow you to get work experience on a part time, normally unpaid basis. The company I work for does this. Then you can include the experience gained on your CV. The next problem you will encounter is how do you pay for H&S qualifications if you are out of work - vicious circle. I started out the same has you, a H&S representative then worked my way up to H&S manager. It wasn't easy but well worth the effort. Good luck Steve w

Hi Steve and others, Thanks for your posts. My situation is I am working somewhere full time as ops Supv (include 70% HS and 30% FM jobs). Recently passed NEBOSH NGC with credit. Planning to grow my own consultancy. planning to have some 'work- experience' on ground before starting my HS consultancy job. I have been acting as Ops Supv for 7 yrs, had served in Army for 17 yrs (involved lot of HS jobs), Have BSc ( physics and Chemistry). Is there anyone who can help me getting some consuntancy work experience, be it paid or unpaid, I don't mind. I am based at London. Thanks. Kashem
