At the risk of being vilified can I suggest that by definition of your request you are not the right person to write a Method Statement for piling. I understand the basics of piling and specifically percussion piling, however I would not even consider writing a MS - that's the engineer's task. I may have an input or review it, but that's all.

I would suggest getting the company who is carrying out the piling to conduct the RAMS, this is not an easy RAM to produce, nor assess if you dont know about piling. Lots to consider such as the rig, testing, collapse, injury, services, ground conditions I could go on.

Just came across this link on the HSE website pertaining to piling risks in general (something else to be aware of).

Ive worked on a number of projects that have involved piling, it is the responsibility of the contractor to provide you with the risk assessment and method statement for piling, there are far too many variables that need to be included for some one without experience to undertake, is the rig a driven pile or an augured one ?, what are the ground conditions, neighbouring properties, what other activities will be on going on site whilst the piling operation is undertaken, has a temporary works design been undertaken for the piling mat (the stability of the ground as piling ribs have been known to tilt and fall over on uneven or unstable ground) if you message me I can probably run through the most significant risks.
