If you could list role details and candidate experience etc it might enable people to gauge a level. Also, are you the recipient of an offer or seeking to make an offer?

Well, AFAIAC a position which has any, responsibility, for H&S should have a starting salary of circa £30k if that helps any.

I've seen site manager roles for between £20-£25k before.
It all depends on a number of variables such as size and nature of the business, the significance they put on the role, geographical area, number of direct reports, reporting level in the organisaiton, public or private sector etc etc.

Well, IMHO it does not depend on the things you have posted above FlashingBlade.
It depends upon what you are culpable for, and for the requirements of most H&S posts I see then if I were looking at them I would be wanting £30k+PA to take on that responsibility, if competent to do the job, which, you should be if taking on the responsibility.

Single discipline advisors seem to be listed at £20-£25K in the North West. Multi-discipline from £25-£32K. Single discipline managers £30K+ depending how generous the prospective employer is. Then £35K upwards for multi-discipline at which point relevant sector experience starts to kick-in. Specialism in say COMAH, Dangerous Goods, food preparation, medical devices seem to attract the best salaries locally. The thing that grinds is employers seem to expect a senior specialist manager for the price of a newly qualified junior advisor

Well Round, that explains why I won't take a full time employed H&S role, because that remuneration is nonsense for the responsibility that seems to be required. Anyone with any responsibility should be on >£30k else they are taking responsibility for money that those who have none are working for. Specialists should be over £40k. I do agree that newly qualified with no experience should not earn these salaries, however, neither should they be put into these posts. TBH, if I were to take a full time H&S role in ANY form, I would be looking for in excess of £50k employed. Like it or lump it.

Well logikglos, how long is a piece of string?
If you have a particular type position in mind please provide more information.
All the above will apply in some form or other but also competence and level of membership of professional institution/s will carry some weight.
It will also depend on size of organisation and what their salary structure will be.
There are some positions for H&S managers where little responsibility is carried and large pay packets exist, and others with lower pay but more responsibility.

As already observed, the question is in effect 'meaningless' and unanswerable.
WHAT position?
If this were a NEBOSH question, how would you answer this one?
lojikglos - if you give us a little bit of something to go on you might (might) get some semi reasonable responses.

I agree with #7.
Self employed/freelance is so much better paid than staff jobs.
I was on £50k back in 2007.
Now on considerably more.
Before I get slated, to my mind it just shows how poorly paid the general sector of h&s is - due to over supply of people, general low pay in te constuction etc

The back pages of SHP offer a good guide, however it all depends on what you think you are worth and how low you can afford to go!!
