Hi I am looking for a supplier of a ladder of 13-15 rungs with safety hand rail on right hand side. In looking, there are warehouse and step ladders but not a straight ladder except for loft ladders. I have a case where a straight ladder is required to be hooked onto a fixture to allow access for window cleaners to a roof. The current ladder is 13 rungs and hooks attached securely however the top of the ladder is level with the roof with a potential fall over a balustrade with a 20' and more drop. The ladder has to be removable and ideally 2 sections for easy of movement. The existing hooks would be removed and placed onto the new ladder. The safety hand rail would give a means of grip to the window clearners when using the ladder for going up/down and getting onto the ladder as they could fasten their harnesses to the rail. Can anyone help, have suggests or advice please. regards Jacqui

jacqui Struggling a little to picture what it is your staff are doing, I will also assume that you have risk assessed the roof work and have suitable controls in place. Not sure what additional safety a hand rail would provide on a leaning ladder. It sound more as if the issue is at the point of accessing the roof. Would it not be easier to provide a fixed hand rail at the access point to help them get on and off the ladder?

have you explored other options 1. do not clean windows 2. clean from ground level using a pole wash/cleaning system 3. small tower scaffolding 4. scissor lift Again, difficult to picture but do explore other options before a ladder, perhaps...
