Sad news just in, balcony railing collapse in London. It appears that the balcony railing was being used to pull a sofa up onto a first floor building and it gave way. This is why all lifting gear is tested, all lifts are risk assessed. We shouldn't use Victorian railings (or fixtures and fittings not designed for that use) as improvised lifting equipment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/new...-england-london-30148003 My thoughts are with the family's at this difficult time.
