All, I am looking at a procedure that states that "A LOCATION LIFTING SPECIALIST (nominated, trained and appointed in compliance with ISN-18(M)" Now I've googles said ISN etc and can't find anything (except links to dodgy sites associated with "18"). I can't recall ever seeing an "ISN" standard. Now, I know these procedures can and are copied across from one to the next etc so there may be a typo or whatever, but the basic question is does anyone recognise ISN - 18(M) or similar in relation to lifting specialists please? Also, what standard / qual would you be looking for in terms of lifting specialists overseeing complex lifts? Many Thanks, Jim

Jim Not into the ISN either. What you are looking for is a Appointed Person (AP)or a Lift Supervisor (LS) CPCS Carded A61 -A62 respectively. There are other Internally Trained APs and LS who would be able to do the job including holders of NPORS cards. With the CPCS card it is easy to find out the standard of training that has been given by going onto the C Skills CITB site. I am reliably informed through the CPA that the United Kingdom Main Contractors are now going to recognise the NPORS cards. If you have not already looked BS7121 part 1 will help you. Ta Alex

Alex, Thanks for the reply. The procedure I am looking at is not very helpful in it's general vagueness. I am going to have to go have a chat with the "owner" and so CPCS is an option, however, I may not have been clear, although mobile cranes are brought in on contract and used around site we also have large overhead gantry cranes and such like in turbine halls so I was looking at LEEA training as a standard, Cheers, Jim
