One of our sister companies have containers delivered (every other month) which are mainly palletised but the very front next to the doors can at times have loose rolls (within squared boxes) that are stacked from the floor to the roof of the remaining space (maximum of 8 kilos and max length of 1200mm).
No dock levellers available and they were about to buy a FLT lift cage to enable staff to off-load the ones from the top half of the container until they could remove from ground level.
Any suitable equipment that they could use to remove the items safely whilst unloading at height?
Not something i've come across in the industry i work in.
Thanks Jon

We had a similar issue, so had a bespoke platform made which can be placed into position with a FLT, the unloaders then remove it out the way when cargo can be removed from eye level.

Hi, From my knowledge the lifting cage is not to be used for planned activities, like unloading a container. See guidance notes http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/pm28.pdfI have the some issue now, how to safely unload a container with no loading bay available, limited space in the yard, not allowed to use the lifting cage? I was thinking that a bespoke platform could make the task safer if properly guarded and used. Have you managed to find a way to safely unload a container? Thanks

Do you have a contact of the company that made the platform? and how much have you had to pay? Thanks
