The company I work for are hoping to win a contract to install over 400 linear metres of underground gas and water mains. if successful this work will be sub-contracted out. What training certification should I expect our sub-contractors working in the trench to hold in order to carry out such work ? I know what is required from the machine drivers and the road works and signage installation.

Sorry if I don't answer your question, but ...... If the CDM regulations are adhered to by the client, then if you don't already know the answer (i.e. knowledge and experience in the industry) then it's unlikely you will be offered the contract.

You will only need to ensure that at least one member of the works crew holds the Operative Streetworks Qualification for each site , and, At least one Qualified Streetworks Supervisor who can oversee each site. you do not need CSCS, etc. The contract specification from the prospective client should also let you know what they are looking for. Forget EUSkills and NJUG. Go to this site www.cityandguilds.com and search for 6159 Streetworks. Also lookup the Streetworks Qualifications for Operatives and Supervisors Regulations 2009. PM me if you need any assistance, do not be miss-led into anything you do not actually need...
