Hi All

New job - New risks

At my new place of work we use 3phase 415 volt demagnetizers to remove magnetic qualities from products before assembly. Items are passed over by hand, the demag units only turn on when it senses movement to reduce exposure.

Does anyone have any experience with these? I cant find much online regarding the hazards - or if there even are any?

any advice appreciated

Look for information at Public Health England. Be careful like most government agencies their 'vanity' site has been closed down and they now come under the generic gov.uk site which tends to the bland and useless but some good things survive like this https://www.gov.uk/gover...sessment-of-health-risks

I think I'm right in saying that there is no known adverse health effect from magnetic fields (other than to those with pacemakers, metal implants etc.) However just in case there may be some long term effect as yet unknown, exposure limits have been defined.

There are some references to demagnetizers in this HPA paper published some years ago

And the possible link to Breast Cancer it is quite and old document and may have been overtaken by recent research
