Hello everyone, I have just taken over responsibilty for H&S at work (Small BioPharma Company on the Isle of Man), and have been dumped in the deep end regarding PTW. The Mother PTW procedure is done, as is hot and cold PTW. Isolations is on going and next on my list is Confined spaces. I am booked on the next Nebosh Certificate couse, but thats not until March. So, trying to muddle my way around all the legalities, I am trying to define what rescue and resusitate means in the real word. I assume resuce refers to a harness and winch/pully, but as for resusitation, does that mean a first aider present, a full face mask, oxygen or a defib? Many thanks
Jon

Forgive me but from reading your post it appears you are not competent to organised confined spaces entries. I would advise you to book yourself on a confined space course and would recommend the City and Guilds Thames Water or Mines Rescue course. The rescue and resuscitate required will be depended on the risks. Rescue could range from self-rescue to a full rescue team. Similar resuscitation ranges from simple air (month to mouth, resus bag) to positive pressure oxygen.
