Could someone point me in the right direction on this. ?
BS EN 50172 mentions that if automatic testing devices are used the results of monthly and annual tests should be recorded. Is there an simple guide to automatic detection sytems out there with pros and cons.

Thanks

Just to make things clear, the "automatic testing device" is built into the luminaire, it's not a separate piece of equipment. So if you don't have it already, then it will mean replacing all your luminaires.

automatic testing is the way forward, its automatically logged and saves money on testing/Manpower I do emergency lighting designs for Universities, Schools, Public Buildings, Hospitals, they carryout minor repairs/rectify faults very effective systems.

However people think these systems are expensive yes this is true but the payback period depending on the quantity of luminaires is 2 years and most companies offer 4 years warranty, products now are all becoming LED and even less maintenance required.
