A question has been raised regarding fencing material for astro-turf pitches. The pitch area in question has two brick walls at 1.2 metres at either goal end with marine ply bounce boards along the dividing walls. Can anyone point me to a BS or European standard for pitch areas. I have looked at the FA guidance which recommends different types of mesh fencing, but nothing specific regarding brick structure. Thank you in advance for your reply's Andrew

Hi Andrew The FA guidance will give measurements on pitch sizes including run-off areas surround the pitch. I think the run-off area is a minimum of 6 yards width (about 5.5 metres). As long as your pitches have the minimum run-off distance then I would say that the type of perimeter fence/wall would not cause any issues. The FA guidance would be the recommended standard of reference. Nick
