Hi All, I have a query that Im hoping I can get some clarification on regarding fire doors and magnetic lock mechanisms. There is a lot of change in this area at present. European legislation with respect to building regulations and the provision of electronic or mechanical mechanism for door locking/release on Fire doors and Fire Escapes is being implemented in Ireland. In short, no magnetic lock mechanisms has passed fire regulations and achieved the necessary CE ratings - Is this true? I just need clarification on this. I would appreciate any help in this. Richie

Richie, Are you talking about magnetic hold open devices for fire doors which release and close upon activation of the fire alarm? These are most definately CE marked under the Construction Products Directive and comply with EN1155. Kevin

Hi Kevkel I appreciate your reply, I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear, I was actually on about doors that are locked magnetically, only opened by a type of FOB and only released automatically when the fire alarm goes off. Richie

Hi Richie
Your description sounds like the Paxton door entry system - I am unaware of any regulation changes for this type of locking device and I am sure they would have CE markings...

Hi Ritchie,
We have the Paxton door entry systems as mentioned by Karljackson ours are fitted on the door release side with an emergency break glass override should you need to evacuate the building without the fire alarm sounding which as you mentioned releases the magnet.
