Does anybody have any advice or information around the above subject? I'm not concerned about charging electric cars at a proprietary charging point, its more about what is best practice if a car develops a short circuit, becomes unsafe in any way. There is obviously a huge current potential in one of these things and potentially fatal.

Refer to:-

The greater risk in electric cars in not of electric shock, but fires in the batteries.

I agree Jay, i also found that article myself today. I suppose though, no more risk than from a conventional car. We have around 50 car auction sites around Europe and ten spontaneous fires last year. I believe the AA run training courses on this subject so I'm trying to get on one.
