Just been in the webinar with Anthony Lees (HSE) - "thank you IOSH by he way!" - with the headphones on in the office and found it useful. I would like to see similar webinars - any thoughts?

Peter that's great news. Steve totally agree and if there was an agree button I would hit it, but that's another story.

Looking forward to seeing the CDM webinar.
Like other posters, i would like to see more webinars available. Personally i find the prerecorded versions useful as i struggle to find time during the day to sit down & participate in the live webinars. Perhaps this is something that could be considered for the CPD & IPD webinars?

I really wish there were more webinars, not all of us have the time to get away from the daily duties to attend a seminar is a far off location.
Webinars are the way forward, along with interactive webinars, pre-register, get the agenda and then email questions that can be answered along with having a live Q&A session.

Jay wrote:I do not seem to find the link to the latest IOSH webinar from HSE on CDM 2015 Please find attached IOSH webinar on CDM2015. The speaker was Anthony Lees from HSE Construction Policy Unit. The presentation consists of 46 minutes in total which also include 15 minutes Q&A session. I’ve selected some of the interesting excerpts to listen. • (10:30- 12:50) Delivery of coordination: speaks about misconception of understanding the CDM role, the role is plan manage monitor coordinate the H&S information in pre-construction phase. Principle change with a move to principal designer role to better integration of pre-construction phase coordination. It will be still possible for principal designer to buy in external H&S advice as they see fit. • (18:18, Role of H&S professionals: the key role in delivering the message; • (19:23- 20:22) CDMC act as Principal Designer; change of mind-set towards the coordination in the pre-construction phase; …should be seen as business function, not as an individual. • (32:10- 33:44) APS to propose CDM Advisor role? There will be a role for H&S advice to be provided to the principal designer. This role will not have authority or duty to act as PRINCIPAL DESIGNER. • (44:09:46:09) Architects are being asked to take on PRINCIPAL DESIGNER roles? A Principal Designer doesn’t have to be an architect. When we say designer its mean designer who is in the position to control the pre-construction phase, designer in the meaning of CDM regulation. Webinar is attached for your considerations. https://iosh.adobeconnec...t=true&pbMode=normal

Yes, thanks. Very interesting - it does at least answer the question of what they thought they were playing at. I'm disappointed, however, at the steadfast refusal of HSE to admit that they have brought in new duties that will have significant cost. The webinar has repeated statements that the changes are negligible for well-managed sites, while completely ignoring the fact that they've duplicated the duty to identify and manage foreseeable risks. Under cdm2007, every designer has a duty to deal with the risk they create - I have no problem with that. Under cdm2015, the PD has that duty too - so is liable for the foreseeable risks in the output of all other designers, meaning that the PD is going to need to review every designer deliverable on the project. If the PD doesn't review and approve every element of design on the project, I don't see how they can be discharging a duty to "identify and eliminate or control, so far as is reasonably practicable, foreseeable risks to the health or safety of any person". This duty is at risk of multiplying bureaucracy, not reducing it.
