Trip hazard - recessed electrical distribution points in the office

Hi all,
I am trying to source a solution to a trip hazard within our office. We currently have the recessed electrical distribution points in the office floor and now have a requirement to use some of them. This in itself hasn't caused a problem before as they were not used and were flush with the floor surface and presented no trip hazard.
Now we have a requirement to use them. The plug socket in hidden by the cover, however where the cable "appears" from the cover, there is a small flap, which due to the cable now in place presents the hazard. The flaps are spring loaded and I am unable to remove them. I have looked at better way of placing the furniture so that they are these are not exposed to traffic, but due to space limitation I have been unsuccessful. I have tried looking online to see if there is anything, but all I can find is the rubber cable tidy solutions, which is not what I am after. The little protector flaps are a little too big for the normal rubber cable tidies that are available and I would need something a little larger.
Has anybody else had to deal with this, and if so, how did you overcome this....

Dave,
What is the floor constructed of?
Hopefully it will be suspended metal flooring with carpet tiles allowing you to lift the carpet tiles and metal floor tiles( metal skin with chipboard inside) and reposition it somewhere.
