Bit of informed advice needed please. We run a monthly employee information session for approximately 120 people at a time. The session is held in a large portacabin and the employees are seated in rows of 6 or seven . There are 20 rows with a gangway in between giving 10 rows on one side and 10 rows on the other. I can get information on seatways etc but what I can't find is definitive advice on whether the seats need to be secured together. Any help (citing sources please) would be greatly appreciated

I don't know whether they need to be secured together, but what I can guarantee is that you will have people unsecuring them. We have never secured the temporary seating in my previous role, we found that people preferred them not to be secured purely so that they can place the seat comfortably for them. Some people don't like being that close to the person they are sitting next too. Hope that helps. Sorry I have no specific guidance!

The underlying reason for some form of securing rows od chairs for temporary seating is to ensure that in event of a fire evacuation, the chairs do not topple over and obstruct. Some info at:- http://www.basesuk.com/u...BLUE%20GUIDE%20Final.pdf http://www.chartareaseating.com/resources.html

We have recently done quite a bit of work last week on seating arrangements, as we are hosting 750 clients at our sports hall facilities. We have taken on board BS9999, particularly Annex D- http://www.constructions...ces/BS%209999%202008.pdf The above document should answer your question.
