We have a problem with our signing in and out boards. This is part of our fire regs/fire evacuation.
Taken from the wall in reception the in/out slider moves, so you don't really know who is in the building.
Does anyone have any suggestions / or can recommend a good board that sliders stay where they should be. Or another signing / in out system (but not computerised)!!
thanks

My advice is scrap the signing in method and appoint staff to sweep the building(s) during an evacuation to ensure its empty.

Unless a booking system is 101% reliable (and few if any are), its 100% useless to account that all staff are evacuated

Depends on your number of employees and how big is your premise ..Scarp the signing method if practicable as it needs highly organized people and rely on your fire marshal

Use high technology such as electronica chips if the cost is not an issue

Why not leave them indoors, but take photographs of them with a mobile phone on the way out?

Pen and paper seems to work fine.

A simple in and out book which people sign into and out of near to the entrance to site.

OK it will not always be 100% accurate but better than a sliding scale.

Agree with the view of others here. BOards are notoriously unreliable, as are signing in books. I've always found a sweep system to be more effective and is credible to the fire services.

Fire marshals every time. No question about it given that many agree that in/out boards are next to useless. Even 'swipe' cards are a bit naff.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I think we are going to use fire marshalls to sweep building.
