HI Everyone ,
i have recently joined IOSH and would like to ask the people on here for their thoughts on a situation i have come across. My brother inlaw works at a factory where the use strong varnishes which give off harmful vapours, the LEV system has been repaired as it was inefficient but now it is so powerful that as it extracts it lifts the work piece so they have turned the extraction down to avoid this. I think this not a solution as they are affecting its efficiency, i believe they have for now stopped using the varnish until this can be resolved. In my opinion the LEV should be left alone and the problem engineered out somehow, also tests on the actual volume of air being extracted should be done. What would you suggest as the best way forward in this situation.
