I have recently passed by NGC level 1 ,2,3 Occupational Safety and Health. I come from an Insurance claims background and am searching for a role which would combine new and old skill sets. Any suggestions. I know some larger compnaies who have H&S roles that also include accident investigation , any one have any ideas or know of any opportunites?

It may be advisable to inform people what you have already tried.

I came from an insurance background, albeit in another country, but risk is risk and the principal of insurance is the same the world over.

After doing my NGC, I then went onto my professional diploma in Safety, health and environmental management.
Some insurance companies take on surveyors who are field based to perform H&S duties, but most, if not all, want experience and for their staff to be chartered members. I did consider this avenue as I'm Grad IOSH, but most are based down south, so you may have better luck because of where you're based.

Try get some volunteering under your belt if you can, as 99.9% of companies don't want to know unless you've got x number of years experience. I'm telling you this from my own search and experience, others may paint a rosier picture, but the bottom line is it's tough, tough and tough.

Good luck.
