We have some porters who sometimes have to move and set up several largish meeting room tables (with folding legs) into a presentation room. The tables re pretty sturdy and pretty heavy (imagine the sort of well made tables you would find in a boardroom or meeting room) (They are about the size of a large typical DSE type office desk). In terms of moving such items what would be the best manual aid to use?

We had a reputable removals company use silk curtains to move offices on the same level, they turned the desks upside down onto the curtain and slid the tables by pulling the curtain easily over a level floor as there was little resistance - it worked very well

We work in this area. You can buy small(ish) plastic pads, about 18 inches square, called "Glides". I think they are made from nylon or polythene but they slip like a dream over carpet even with very heavy furniture on them. Andy

I have a set a home for use when moving stuff around. It makes a 2 person lift become a week person slide - easy! Probably PTFE (thanks NASA). Of course the problem arises when you can't get the table through the door without turning it on its side.
