Hi - we are having some works done to a roof and in an area that could well be prone to intruders trying to climb the scaffold - but also because of what we sell could invite unfavourable sorts. I have been noticing that scaffolds have hoarding and a door with digi lock to prevent unauthorised access. I am thinking this would be documented in their RAMs but is there a new requirement for this as well? Thanks

Hoarding and a door with a digi lock are normally used where there is street access and where access/egress must be maintained or is difficult to remove. If the scaffolding is within a secure site it is probably excessive and will be expensive.
Scaffolding does increase the security risk and you will not stop determined intruders. There are portable CCTV monitoring and alarm systems available but it is common just to remove the access ladders.
In my experience if the risks of intruders are high you will have to use security. This can range from hourly visits or a night security guard. To assess the risk you need to consider actually how many times you and your neighbours have had intruders and the local crime figures.

Thank you, I thought as much. The premises is open to the public so we will need to look additional security. Is there a particular section in the regs that state this. I have to prove everything I recommend you see and back up by regs and I cannot find a simply direct answer on this. I would say it could be duty of care.
