The revised CDM regs states that letters of appointment should be issued to principal Designers etc. Does anyone know of any basic templates that may be available or would a standard letter suffice. SBH

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and here is the link to the post: http://forum.iosh.co.uk/...spx?g=posts&t=115738 This was the wording I used on my appointment letter - don't know if it's enough or not but it's what I used: In accordance with Regulation 5 of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, I hereby appoint COMPANY NAME to perform the role of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor on behalf of CLIENT NAME in relation to the above project with immediate effect. Under this appointment you will be required to fulfil the requirements of Regulations 11 – 16 inclusive of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Your appointment will remain for the duration of the project. We would be obliged if you would sign the declaration below in acceptance of this appointment and return it to us at your earliest convenience.

APS do standard appointment letters but they are pretty complex. Reduced rates for APS members. Mike Lawton

Presumably, appointment is based on competitive response to tender, ("we seek to make appointment of competent person(s) to fulfil, etc. etc.) a process which results in contract award. The tender specification should already have the detail and particulars (that's what they're quoting for after all!) and it would be sufficient to cross-refer to that in the letter of appointment. The Client can choose to terminate PD before end of Project. His H&S File duties then pass to PC.
