We're just commencing an internal project to amalgamate two sites into one. This will entail moving large CNC machines etc from one site to the newly refurbished/modified second site. We know that we will be acting as the Client under CDM 2015 but wonder if anyone can recommend the following:- 1. Any reputable organisations in the Liverpool/Chester area that have the competence to act as (preferably) both Principal Contractor and Principal Designer? or 2. Is there any list/database etc that I could get this sort of information? Of course, there are the large organisations such as AMEC, Balfour Beatty etc but this is not a major project so feel that their rates will be too excessive. Any ideas? Cheers Pete

advertise the job and then evaluate the applicants --- get an expert H&S person on board to help draw up the T&C's / costs etc. and advise on the resulting bids

I googled "expert moving heavy plant" and the search gave half a dozen specialists, one being in the Liverpool area. I suggest you could conduct a decent tender from those 6 or so, requesting testimonials, etc. "Design" is realistically dependent on the specification of the OEM for foundations, ragbolts, AV mounts etc. Presumably you also know to within a few cm where you want these machines to go and have already arranged for appropriate supplies and junction boxes as part of fit-out. The Health and Safety File is something that should essentially already exist. Is there likely to be much more in the way of preconstruction information and related work that you as Client wouldn't be able to take responsibility for, i.e. assume the role of PD yourself ?
