Advice on first timer seeking work abroad

Good afternoon all.
I'm about to complete the NVQ 5 H&S and am considering seeking work for a larger contractor abroad in the next few months. My experience to date has been with a very small consultancy firm and I'm acutely aware that I need to gain more hands on experience before I settle back with my current employer over the coming years (he is supporting my decision to do this). I'm in a position where I can travel so I'd like to take the opportunity whilst I can, rather than join a larger firm here in Essex.
I'd appreciate any advice or messages from people who have worked abroad in construction or mechanical HSE roles, particularly at more of a junior level. Though I have a number of years managerial experience in the recruitment industry, I will only have approximately 2 years direct H&S experience as GradIOSH when I leave.
Aside from looking at the various job sites offering work abroad, I'd be grateful to speak to anyone who has gone through the process as a starting point.
Thanks, Mark

Hi Bob
As far away as possible preferably, certainly outside of Europe. I'd go to where I can find work but anywhere in the Middle East, Asia or N/S America really. I can't be specific at this point as I'm in the very early planning stages.
My background is recruitment so I'm familiar with the job hunting world, but I'm more interested in speaking with someone who has gone through a similar process - i.e. at a similar level in their career, construction based H&S background and is willing just to pass on advice/pointers, that kind of thing. The hard graft will start in the new year when I begin to start contacting major contractors and recruitment firms.
My partner and I just fancy seeing a bit more of the world. Whilst she is able to find alternative work , I would like to use this 12/24 month period to further my development as a consultant and so need to find work within my field.
