Hello All,

We have just found horse hair in the plaster of an old Victorian building we are renovating - An issue that we were alive to beforehand. We have all the relevant controls in place for the safe removal.

However, due to the number of samples required to be taken and tested to be sure the plaster is not infected, we are not going to test.

My question is... What do we do with the waste ? I can't seemed to find any info on this issue.
In terms of safety and methods of working we are assuming the presence of anthrax spores but obviously we have no information.

There's lots about Anthrax in the archive but no mention of what to do with the plaster that removed.

Anyone had any experience of this ?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Why aren't you testing it? Public Health England will do this for you.
If you do have the spores it should be treated as clinical waste and incinerated not buried.
