"“You knew the only safe way was to bury the overhead power line. Western Power Distribution told you what was necessary, but you ignored it. You didn’t want the inconvenience of putting the work back. Your stance was to hope that everything would be alright. The site was a potential death trap and remained so despite repeated warnings.” http://www.ppconstructio...en-four-year-jail-terms/

Whats the betting the company will go bust as their "fine" is announced, only to take life the next day under a very similar name? Also the 4 years will translate to around 18 months and then these people will be back and carrying on where they left off

I agree they are more meaningful sentences than we normally see from the judiciary. The power cable should have been buried underground, which would have cost £15k, so I suspect this was an aggravating factor, hence the severity of the sentences. Voluntary liquidation and later becoming a 'Phoenix' company will not reduce their sentences.

The "company" has yet to be fined. Are you saying the loop hole for the organisation avoiding the fine has been closed? I'm aware there was talk

I was referring to the fact that their prison sentences cannot be avoided due to the Plant Hire company going into voluntary liquidation. Did not realise the company had not been sentenced yet as I read about this case in an article on SHP Online where it did not mention that. http://www.shponline.co..../?cid=homepage_13th-15th
