A quote from a document that has just been emailed to me as a part of a sales mailshot. Anyone care to comment?... "Health and Safety FAQs Organisations with 5 or more employees are required by law to: ... Access to competent Health and Safety advice - It is a criminal offence if you do not seek competent (trained) advice. ..." I can't recall a law that states this specifically. Can anyone put me right please?

It is a scam--loosely refers to Regulation 7 of the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 http://www.legislation.g...9/3242/regulation/7/made http://www.hse.gov.uk/bu...ess/competent-advice.htm http://www.hse.gov.uk/managing/legal.htm

Thank you Jay, I knew it was a bit of shall we say overselling! ;) I missed a smiley face out of the OP. It just beggars belief that people try this scaremongering and more that other fall for it. Suffice to say, I will be ignoring the email & the company from now on, I can guess where they got my email address from on the internet, but, I have to have a publically available email address there. I think I might create a new one, so that I know where all this nonsense comes from! I couldn't quite relate the wording in the sales bumf, to that from the links you posted... ;) My OP was more to illustrate the scam & scaremongering aspect TBH, I just didn't word it well, and hit the post button too soon. Trying to multitask is not a good thing for me to attempt obviously.
