John This annual HSE construction site blitz has been occurring as long as I care to remember - with the same awful results each time. One day the penny will drop in that serving ENs is not the answer, you have to prosecute to get the message home.

Serving Ns might work if they followed them up. There have been lots of cases over the past few years (many involving deaths), where the company is clearly on the HSE radar but there has been little action before its too late. Maybe if HSE spent less on spin and more on field staff things would improve.

Well hopefully that is changing. An inspector i have dealt with in the past was moving from one HSE section to Construction, and said there were so few of them that they were unable to follow up too much. They're currently on a large recruitment drive but it'll take a good few years for these 'new' inspectors to get anywhere near what they've lost over the last five years.

Really? They've been given a higher budget then? No.....still going down. They're enlisting on reduced salaries then? No...... In short...going, going, ?

Said with full Friday mode turned on, Lots of EN's served, so FFI will apply. Seems to be a very good self funding campaign from where I'm looking....long may it continue. Poor performance within a specific targeted sector, they literally pay the price.

Which comes first the chicken, sorry HSE Inspector or the FFI. Chris
