Hi All
A bit of advise please.
Bio-ethanol fires seem to be getting popular at the moment. We have had a few of these units returned to our stores by customers for various reasons, most of them still containing Bio-ethanol fuel that the customers have left in them.
The question is, what advice do I give to the store managers on disposal of the fuel still contained in the unit.

You will need a secure area to store the unit pending disposal. Without knowing your quantities I cannot say what that will be but is could be as simple as a flammable cupboard if you only have a handful of items at any one time. Look up flammable liquids on the HSE website for more guidance on this.
For disposal you will need to discuss this with a waste company. The bio-ethanol itself will be hazardous waste due to being flammable so a specific disposal route will be required. Tell the company what you have and they will be able to advise the best method for disposal. Aerosol cans spring to mind as a similar type of waste that is dealt with every day by waste companies.
One last thing. I think each of your stores will need to register as a hazardous waste producer if they are handling these things for disposal. Instructions on how to do that can be found on the .gov website.
