Hi All A Lorry Mounted Crane with one driver/operator is required to go to a site and offload plant. Access to the Lorry bed is required to attached single leg chain/hook, covered by job specific RAMS. Site has requested the use of harness, lanyard and a rescue plan, but without their involvement. How does that work then? Do we now find ourselves having to send a first aider with suspension trauma experience and additional competently trained HIAB operator should something go wrong. Am at a loss!! Thanks for your thoughts in advance

You could bamboozle them with a fall restraint harness. Or as it is their site you could tell them it is their responsibility. But in reality because it will be some faceless wonder who has thought this up tell them you need a site meeting to discuss. Whatever the outcome good luck as you will probably need it.

Hopefully your own T&Cs should have made it clear that you are simply supplying a crane with a driver under the general CPA T&Cs. If they wish for a Contract Hire, which is what is being attempted, they should be informed that there is a different schedule of rates to apply and you will have total control of lifts on site whilst you are present. You can buy a harness and landyard were you lower yourself to the ground. Although not sure what you would do if your knocked out.
