Depending on the use and process, some will need six monthly inspections. The regs should give you a bit more of a guide and also manufacturers data you may ahve on the LEV

14 months is the statutory maximum for thorough examination and you would normally aim for annually. Six monthly might refer to a service which could also be needed.

HSE talks about the 14 month maximum translating as "annually". Personally with LEV systems (not subject to more frequent checks due to the nature of the process and/or materials) targeted the TE at 13 months on the basis that over time the LEV would be examined in varying external conditions throughout the year from nice calm summer days through the howling gales of whatever storm in winter.

Process dependent. See Table 18 of HSG258. (Free download)

For ours on the 14 monthly, we plan as annual for the checks to keep a set date with the additional 2 months to sort any issues out (outside of general planned maintenance). We know we don't have to, but we're covered by an annual insurance inspection policy so it doesn't make sense leaving it any longer than 12 months.

Thanks folks. I thought it was set at 14 months minimum. But i now realise it depends upon the process and the substance and the conditions. I suspose i would have to rfer to manufacturers instructions
