I'm am after some advice please. I was asked today how often should a D1 registered medical facility carry out air sampling in its surgical units. I have tried the normal sources and am drawing a blank. I'm fully aware about the requirements for servicing and changing filters etc, but can not seem to find anything about the requirement to conduct air quality samples. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you had a look at HTM 03-01 which provides guidance on the design and management of heating and specialised ventilation in health sector buildings. SBH

If surgery is carried out then it may apply to the requirement for microbial sampling. I don't think there is a requirement for routine monitoring if all engineering controls are maintained but may be required after commissioning or if levels of post-op infection are high. Only other monitoring other than that referred to by SBH may be under COSHH if anaesthetic gases are used.
