I worked there a dozen years or so ago as part of a role covering Northern England and the IOM. They aren't in the EU (or the UK for that matter) but they are an associate member, which means that they tend to adopt similar principles to those in the directives but take more time about it; for instance I think they drew up some RA regs in about 2002. UK law is regarded as "persuasive evidence" by Manx courts, so things actually tend to work in a fairly similar way to the UK. Also bear in mind that the total population is somewhat less than that of Reading, Doncaster or Stirling; it's not a big place and when I was working there the H&S department had two people; they were friendly and keen to talk, John
