Has anyone any evidence or knowledge of anywhere I can find research of CCTV being used to improve HSSE compliance and performance leading to reduction in incidents

Hi Iain,
That's a pretty wide question!
I would imagine CCTV has been successful with highways safety. For example, identifying trouble on the road network and updating matrix signals (reduced speed / obstruction etc.) accordingly. Or even the speed camera 'SPECS' systems used to regulate speed through road works etc.

Thanks Simon, I should have been more specific. I am specifically looking at use on worksites and anything to back up that the use of CCTV has been used successfully or not as may be the case, as a method to improve HSSE and identify poor behaviours. I am having the usual problem of trying to explain to a non HSSE person in HSSE Management CCTV for me is reactive and ineffective, and may have many other legal considerations etc. They can be great for defending claims if caught on camera, but doesn't stop accident happening and if we are going to spend money I would rather we spend money up front on training which supports accident prevention / behavioural violations thanks Iain

Anecdotal evidence suggests that those who are being 'watched' will act more responsibly and arguably safer than those not being watched or recorded. You need to be careful with CCTV as there is a great deal of legislation and guidance, which if you do not comply with you may find you are in breach. For example, you need to carry out an Impact Assessment prior to installation of CCTV in order to justify why you are installing the equipment.
