It is thought that his injuries have also damaged his ability to make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs according to a source at the Intergalactic Senate :)

Dear Harrison,
Where there's blame, there's a claim!
Drop me a line at martin-ambulancechasers.co.uk.
We also do a good line in private plane insurance.

With all the remakes, insertions, director's cuts, etc. etc. - have they not taken the opportunity to correct that bit of dialogue?
As all sci-fi pedants are aware, a parsec is a measure of distance, not time.

They did comment on it briefly in the new film. How far is a Parsec anyway?

When some of these cases are reported I would seriously like to know whether these companies took safety advice, or not, and if they did what that advice was. It would be interesting to know.

Hmm. Looks like scalp hunting to me. Is this the work of the dark side?

A parsec is a distance of 3.26 light years or equal to 19 trillion miles...far away.

I'm not so sure. Cptn Solo was injured by a hydraulic door aboard the Millennium Falcon. A ship of which he is both owner and master!

So technically you could do the route by taking a shortcut across say a dangerous asteroid field which usual shipping lanes avoid hence doing the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs instead of the usual 15.
The dialogue stands.

...And Solo is exonerated as a daring pilot. Hurrah!
Back to the topic now.

Consider this. Since Star Wars is like, err, made up, maybe they have used the term "Parsec" and it is a different word to that used in the real world............ so you are assuming too much! In their world, the units could have been "bananas" or "goats" or "yards". Remember.............none of it is real. And, BTW, there is no light sabre or death star. So, let's not nit pick. Sorry to burst any bubbles. May the force be with you.

I think you will find you can buy a light sabre at Argos ( other retailers probably sell them too). Obviously not a fully functioning one as they are intended for children, but a light sabre none the less.
NB Solo was also responsible for maintenance as well (I spotted him fixing it on many occasion), so it is his own fault for shoddy work.
